Gentle and slow movements that help generate change.
You progress through the 4 phases at your own pace. Each phase helps guide you through the process of improving movement while reducing chronic pain.
Myostretching is presented in 4 separate phases with each phase being it's own course.
Basics of getting started
How to maximize your benefits
Setting yourself up for success
4 Basic movements
Knowing when it's time to progress
*typical length of time in this phase is a minimum of 6 weeks
Each phase builds upon the previous phase. There are a total of 24 movements in this program. YOU decide how far you go and how much freedom from the chains of pain you desire. Myostretching has the capability of helping you to create the lifestyle you dream of living.
You see the man in the orange body suit?
His suit represents our fascia system. This system allows us to move, being held together in organized parts and works as a whole unit that is flexible, strong and unified.
Imagine this man washes his suit and puts it in the dryer for too long... and it shrinks. A LOT!
What happens to his ability to function?
Lost flexibility? Decreased strength? Inconsistent coordination of movement? Restrictions in various locations? Decreased sensation? Decreased ability to concentrate? Increased frustration? And most of all, his freedom to move!
What if the suit keeps getting tighter?
Headaches? Lack of energy? Leg cramps? Ability to focus? Fatigue? Overall muscle pain and weakness?
etc. etc. etc.
Myostretching is a movement program that helps to reverse this tension and restore or "stretch out" the tissues to help have a proper fitting "suit".
A Neuromuscular Reeducation Program. It is a specialized technique of small muscle movements that target the fascia system of the body. It incorporates slow, small, gentle movements with the resistance of gravity.
Reverse the cycle of pain by increasing tissue flexibility, building endurance, developing muscle strength and allowing the body to move freely. When all of these combine, the body will have less fatigue and less pain.... which turns off the negative loop of the pain cycle and turns on the positive feedback reactions so the body will continue to become balanced and free to move again.
Myostretching facilitates the relaxation of the deep fascial system, which influences and helps regulate all systems of the body. The fascia intertwines and helps to coordinate all systems of the body to work together as a team. Once the fascial system is activated, coordinated and more flexible, the body will decrease the release of various pain signaling chemicals which, in turn, will continue to decrease overall pain and fatigue.
FIRST: Myostretching enters the "Cycle of Pain" between the "pain" and "flexibility" phases of the recovery process. Why is this different? Most exercise or rehab programs start between the "endurance" and "strength" phases to help influence recovery. Myostretching initiates tissue healing and the relaxation process before activating the endurance and strength phases of recovery.
SECOND: Myostretching can be incorporated into any other exercise or rehab program. Myostretching is done first thing each morning... BEFORE you do any other activities (see 'THE WAVE' section for more explanation) for the day. You will not be doubling your exercise time, just enhancing it.
THIRD: Each person in unique. Everyone has different areas of tension and restrictions, even when they seem to be exactly the same as someone else. Fascia has its own unique patterns and it cannot be predicted in what ways it is twisted or tight. NO WORRIES! Myostretching is a progressive movement program which means you progress as you determine is right for you. Depending on your condition and abilities, you may start this program with moving --one body part-- one time--for 1 week... and then increase to either 2 body parts or 2 reps. The choice is yours! You continue the process until you reach your desired physical comfort zone or activity level.
Look at the wave patterns to your right.
What color do you think you are on the scale of the wave patterns in regards to your pain, fatigue, strength, endurance, flare-ups or life restrictions?
Which one looks like the pattern you would LIKE to be in?
I will give you a hint... the RED! Why?
The RED line indicates a consistent balance. Everyone has a pattern. Each one of us has our own life issues with aches, pains, restrictions and health.
The key to a happy life is a balanced pattern.
The RED line indicates the goal of Myostretching for your body. It represents a calm, predictable pattern of good days and slow days.
Myostretching does not "cure" any disease or disorder. It's main purposes are to reduce fascial restrictions and reeducate the neuromuscular system to reduce tension on nerve endings, blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, muscles and numerous other anatomy tissues which play a role in the bodies ability to function in an optimal manner.
Can you guess which line represents the chaos, disorganization and increasing chronic pain?
Can you guess which line represents daily or weekly flare-ups?
The Purple...
Myostretching will flatten the curve, create a more consistent pattern of wellness, decrease the intensity and frequency of flare-ups, improve sleep patterns, increase mid-day energy peaks and reduce overall tension within your body.
The only thing you have to do is to commit to is a daily program that takes less than 10 minutes.
No special diets... No special herbs... No aerobic exercise!
